School of Music Studies
The School of Music Studies was founded in 1984 and constitutes the first university department of music studies to operate in Greece, and the first institution of accredited, tertiary music studies in the history of modern Greece.


In the 33 years since its establishment as the first University-level department for Music Studies in Greece, the School of Music Studies has developed into a multi-faceted centre for educational, research and creative initiatives in the field of music introducing innovative methodologies in educational experience, and preparing highly skilled young educators, composers, researchers and music professionals.
The building also has a library that includes Greek and foreign bibliography on musicology topics as well as scores of musical works and manuscripts of music of Greek composers. Furthermore, the school has a remarkable collection of traditional instruments and replicas of ancient musical instruments, which visitors can be guided through.

How to get here
School of Music Studies is located inside the University campus in an area called Thermi, on the 4th km of Charilaou-Thermi road. It is 9.8 km from the city center and is easily accessible by car or public transportation (bus).
